Making an actual post! SHOCKING. I know, I am bad at this whole LJ thing anymore.

Currently flailing over: Leverage (now caught up on Season 3. EEEEEEEEEE Parker and Hardison!), Burn Notice, White Collar, Psych, The Guild, and some nerdy, NERDY shit like a rewatch of Coffee Prince, SNSD, of all things, and mad RP. Also Arkham Horror is great fun. Plus I am partaking of the great biannual rewatch of SG-1. looking at that it seems like I have a lot of spare time, but not really?

Speaking of RP: DANG! I have a nice stable of characters at the moment and it looks like there will be somebody new added soon. How delightful! Only one currently active is the Teacher in one of Justin's Hunter campaigns. She's delightful! And so adorable at the moment because she's got a boyfriend now! Who might end up being horribly murdered, or the big bad, or not be down with the fact that she's kind of a Vigilante as a side job. I could/should do a run down of my characters just because, but I don't want to be that guy in the store who wants to tell you about his character. *sigh*

Will is talking of running a hard sci-fi game at some point soon and that would be fucking sweet. COLONY SHIP. DUDE, I AM SO THERE. And then I'm planning on running a D&D 4e one shot for my mom and some people because Mom has been missing both playing and D&D so that should be fun. I hope I'm not bad at the whole GM-ing thing.

Work is awesome even if last week was the week from hell. I think they returned all 94,000+books circulated for June at once or something. CHRIST. People who have been there for 12 years have never seen it that bad. Which is why I'm glad this was my off week and I had 4 days off in a row.

Went shopping for much needed work clothes over the weekend. Got a gorgeous skirt, some multipurpose shirts and some shoes. I need to go get some sort of liners for the shoes to keep my feet happy, but they are pretty nice. :D

Got Dragon Quest 9, and it is good times! It's got the funny and the cute, and I rather enjoyed designing my character. And the party members. My entire party is Norse themed at the moment. it may change. Kind of tempted to do some sort of Dresden Files naming scheme.

I decided that I need to start both getting up earlier in the day and eating breakfast. To that end I bought a loaf of bread and some jelly - toast will be a fine breakfast. And looking at all the breads available I saw that familiar yellow packaging, and went for it. See, I was raised on wheat bread. White bread wasn't even MENTIONED at my house. It was the DEVIL. My parents bought Home Pride buttered split top wheat bread. Sandwiches, toast, everything. WHEAT BREAD. So I'm totally having a nostalgia trip because of the bread I bought.

Also man, I had no idea fruit spreads were so complicated. I need to research the differences between jelly, jams, preserves, marmalades, and fruit curds.

I also got the new Abney Park album - Aether Shanties. JOY.

Got a couple questions, LJ land

1.) Anybody with 2 iPhones on the same plan? (like a family plan) how does that work, charges-wise? Do you have to pay the data plan per iPhone?

2.) Gonna get me a rice cooker, hopefully. The Japanese store has Zojurishi ones (wif the elephant logo) for about $115. Any horror stories about their fuzzy logic cookers?

Friday: Discovered much to my dismay that fried foods REALLY don't like me (woe), then when I was feeling better went over to Will's for an evening of Drunk Fighter(Street Fighter Drinking game: Take a drink every time you win a match). While I didn't drink due to recently upset tummy, Boy got ROYALLY and MAGNIFICENTLY smashed. Which was fine until we got home at 4am and he proceeded to start on being VERY violently ill and then hung over. So I was up till 6 am pulling sickie duty until he could get to sleep.

Saturday: Woke up around 11am. Went to check on Boy (who was camped on the couch for fear of movement). Still miserable. Spent the afternoon nursing him back to humanity. around 5 he was capable of food again. Headed out to Sherman around 6pm(with Boy's blessing) for a 1-shot Hunter: the Vigil campaign. (shut up. When run well White Wolf doesn't give me hives.) Had a great deal of fun dealing with cultists and demons and Zombies. Game wrapped up around 6:45am. loaded up on coffee and drove home. Got home around 8am. Was so tired it hurt to move by that point. Stumbled to bed and passed out.

Sunday: Woke up at noon. Still tired but developing a headache so the best cure was to get up and do. Since I had to cancel Mom and my's lunch plans on Saturday due to needing to take care of Boy, IM'd Mom and said we could try again today, but I am very sleep lacking so I may be kind of goofy. Headed out to Mesquite with her with season 1 of Burn Notice. Ate, went back to the house for SPIES, SPOOKS, and HILARITY, and I'm pretty sure I passed out on the couch for a bit. Went back to Richardson, grabbed food since Boy was on a Raid and I would not want to go out again or cook, and came home and crashed.

I am feeling better today, but lawsy. The kitchen's a mess and I am STARVING. I guess I should get on that.

Mom has lent me Carnivale to watch and I am thus-far enamored. She explained the basic plot to me and then was like "And the Kurgan's the Priest! :D" to which I boggled. (Highlander is on my mother's yearly rewatch list along with Conan, Terminator, The Princess Bride, and Last Crusade) So anyway I was listening to him talk (and watching) and I was like "... I know that deep charming and persasive yet slightly menacing voice. .... LEX LUTHOR OMG!!!" And that actor did/does indeed play Lex Luthor in the animated DC universe.

  • finish the Zunesock, but the pocket for headphones can wait if necessary.
  • work on Noro Striped Scarf (I have been infected too. fleeeee for your liiiives. Also I am really loving Silk Garden.)
  • sleep. lots oif it.
  • cook at least once, if not twice, actual meals.

Pardon me while I vibrate with glee.
Momswag got.
Consisted of:
  • 120GB Red Zune with art and inscription engraving on the back. It is such an awesome little device! It does so much crap AND the headphones are comfortable!
  • Super Stitches Knitting, aka a stitch dictionary! YES. I needed one of these SO BAD. I've been wanting to try my hand at designing and this is exactly what I needed!
  • Rachel Ray's Big Orange Book. Shut up. I like her food. And I mean, the idea of getting a meal done in 30 minutes is infinitely appealing.
  • That TY teddy bear from Borders named Chaucer. I am actually gonna leave that as his name because it's awesome. :D
Mom got a set of books from a series she reaaaaally likes, and Dave got her The Truth by Terry Pratchett. It is her favorite Discworld book. (I'm the one who actually owns most of the Discworld books, she just borrows them.)

Tomorrow I make fudge in the morning to take over to his parents' in the evening. Then then next day is Christmas with MY family (a whole damn crowd, which should be nice, if exhausting) and then the next day I fall over and don't move till the evening. :D

Have finally figured out where a dining table would go if we got one. :D Hooray! Now I need a cheap table and some chairs. Though to start off with we could just use the chairs we have and just get a table. Mostly we need one so people can come over and play board games without having to sit on the floor. Plus maybe it would be nice to cook for people sometimes. And so I don't have to set up my sewing machine on the floor, oh my poor back.

Christmas is coming! With all the resultant busyness. Dave and I are looking forward to the 26th and after wards, where the most pressing thing we have to do is spend our gift cards. We have not had much time to ourselves lately and it is sad.

Happy holiday wishes to all and enjoy whatever holiday you are celebrating!

So I was watching a thing with Daniel Radcliffe and he mentions dyspraxia, and I was like "Huh, never heard of that, wazzit?" and looked it up. It's interesting. I kind of wish I had some way of seeing if I actually had it or not because there is this one thing I have never been able to understand. See, when I was 5 or so, I learned to swim. I swam all that summer, it was great. Come next summer, I had somehow forgotten, and, hand to my heart, in the intervening 19 years I have only barely gotten to the point where I can keep my head barely above the water. I have absolutely no idea how to keep myself afloat. I love pools, and provide me with some scuba googles to cover my nose and I can swim underwater decently, but there's some critial part of the whole "not drowning" thing that I just can't do. It's kind of interesting in a "well that's damn odd" sort of way. I mean. Floating comes naturally to most, yes? I mean, being able to float on your back in the water is not something you have to spend years learning how to do?

So far today I have:

  • Applied for a job at Whole Foods

  • Rode my new bike down to the creek

  • Fed ducks and ducklings.

  • Nearly blacked out coming back up the hill too fast to beat the storm.

  • Broke out the unscented candles when the power went out for a few minutes (wish I still had an Oil Lamp)

  • After laying around a bit to recover from the near blacout and subsiquent nausea, threw everything in the washer.
