Today = good.

Went to the Fillmore and met up with Andrea from high school - that was awesome! :D :D

Man, the Fillmore had these olives! Mozzerella stuffed olives breaded and fried. Sooooooo gooood. Mmmmm. And the fish and chips is indeed Awesome! And huge! :D Also Andrea recommended I try a Black Velvet. That is now my drink of choice when I don't want something hardcore. And then there was a cute little shop just down the street that was still open and I got some delightfully scented candles.

Then I came home and got to the actual Landsmeet in Dragon Age. Dang, this will be awesome! Hopefully I can bend them to my will and get my preferred outcome.

I picked "accomplished" for my mood, and now I have the bit on accomplishment from Pride and prejudice playing in my head. I am such a nerd.

Also GIP. God so hilarious!

Lunch has failed. Made namul to go with my teriyaki chicken, but put in too much salt and sesame oil. Now my rice is oily and kind of offputting. I am gonna be SO hungry in a couple of hours. Also my head hurts like mad and ugh. I kind of wonder if I can take off early today.

Am for sure going to make simmered sprouts and baby bok choi tonight though.

Job is awesome though I stabbed myself but GOOD with a pin today. Deep and at an angle RIGHT on the pad of my index finger.  Ow.

There was a wonderful Texas Thunderstorm a little while ago. Then it stopped raining and it was just a lightning storm. (as in flashes every couple of seconds for at least 10 minutes straight.) :D I love that kind of weather! At least when I don't have to be anywhere!

Tomorrow is for crochet and Angelic Layer and a bit of cookery. Got one of those fancy-ass Japanese rice cookers and so far it has not done me wrong.  The timer function is godly. The rice is cooked and done by the time I get up in the morning? Or by the time I get home from Work? AWESOME. Going to make garlic pasta with veggies tomorrow for lunch. trying to avoid oils and fatty foods to see if that helps my tummy any. Today's lunch of onigiri with umeboshi, strawberries, and grape tomatoes was eaten with nary a flutter from the tummy regions after wards. Which reminds me I need to go get more strawberries. I got the carton just to eat yesterday but they work really well in a bento box.  Plus they are on sale. Maybe some other fruit.

Friday: Discovered much to my dismay that fried foods REALLY don't like me (woe), then when I was feeling better went over to Will's for an evening of Drunk Fighter(Street Fighter Drinking game: Take a drink every time you win a match). While I didn't drink due to recently upset tummy, Boy got ROYALLY and MAGNIFICENTLY smashed. Which was fine until we got home at 4am and he proceeded to start on being VERY violently ill and then hung over. So I was up till 6 am pulling sickie duty until he could get to sleep.

Saturday: Woke up around 11am. Went to check on Boy (who was camped on the couch for fear of movement). Still miserable. Spent the afternoon nursing him back to humanity. around 5 he was capable of food again. Headed out to Sherman around 6pm(with Boy's blessing) for a 1-shot Hunter: the Vigil campaign. (shut up. When run well White Wolf doesn't give me hives.) Had a great deal of fun dealing with cultists and demons and Zombies. Game wrapped up around 6:45am. loaded up on coffee and drove home. Got home around 8am. Was so tired it hurt to move by that point. Stumbled to bed and passed out.

Sunday: Woke up at noon. Still tired but developing a headache so the best cure was to get up and do. Since I had to cancel Mom and my's lunch plans on Saturday due to needing to take care of Boy, IM'd Mom and said we could try again today, but I am very sleep lacking so I may be kind of goofy. Headed out to Mesquite with her with season 1 of Burn Notice. Ate, went back to the house for SPIES, SPOOKS, and HILARITY, and I'm pretty sure I passed out on the couch for a bit. Went back to Richardson, grabbed food since Boy was on a Raid and I would not want to go out again or cook, and came home and crashed.

I am feeling better today, but lawsy. The kitchen's a mess and I am STARVING. I guess I should get on that.

It's not until I am listening to it (or discussing it with my Mother the Writer) that I really notice Terry Pratchett writes some seriously beautiful prose amidst the insightful looks into the way people work and the satire and all. I was listening to Going Postal (unabridged) and there was a section about the clacks towers that actually made me stop what I was doing and just listen intently to the art of words.

I am full of food and in that head-foggy state I get in when I've got a migraine but it is medicated into enough submission I am no longer miserable. Everything's kind of disconnected. It does not help that I have a had a kind of mental low-day wherein I am at a loss to work up the gumption to eat, let alone do anything other than sit or lie around. I ran errands earlier due to sudden ant infestation. Now that my head's gone foggy it's time to throw in the towel and just lie down and listen to my audiobooks and likely sleep.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better as Dave's sister is in town and she's coming over tomorrow. Gotta think of some Vegetarian/vegan friendly places we can take her. Damn that that sushi roll place was in Irving, it was so good.

Damn Good New Year's Black Eyed Peas

1 can black eyed peas
1 jar of salsa of your choice (I used mild southwestern)
Worcestershire sauce
tomato paste
red/white wine vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
foil pie-pan

Open and drain the black eyed peas and pour into the pie-pan. Add about a third of the jar of salsa. Stir. Add a generous sprinkle of Worcestershire sauce. Add about a tablespoon of tomato paste. Mix. Add a splash of vinegar and taste. Add more Worcestershire sauce. Salt and pepper to taste, then bake at 350 for about 40-60 minutes. Deeeeelicious. Probably amazing with Chow-Chow*, but I haven't had time to try that yet.

*<small>Chow-Chow is a kind of... cabbage relish very common here in Texas. It is divine on beans.

Plan for this weekend:
  • Remain vitamin and medicated up. Gotta kick whatever this is's ass.
  • Go on grocery run which may necessitate a run to the Chinese megagrocery if the Japanese store has no kamabuko or aburaage or hijiki seaweed (I is making udon and homemade inarizushi, the canned stuff is too sweet)
  • finish the Zunesock, but the pocket for headphones can wait if necessary.
  • work on Noro Striped Scarf (I have been infected too. fleeeee for your liiiives. Also I am really loving Silk Garden.)
  • sleep. lots oif it.
  • cook at least once, if not twice, actual meals.
  • make it to 68 and bound gleefully for Northrend.

Oh man. I've got to figure out something to do for dinner tonight. I've got to eat early cause I'm picking Mom up from the airport and I am very tempted to just eat somewhere on the way. Or maybe I will eat a small something aforehand and see if mom wants to pick up food on the way home? Hm. That is a better plan. Hmm. Pasta and miso soup or rice thingums? Hmm hmm.

Bought an okonomiyaki kit at the asian store. :D I would make that, but I will be good and wait to see if Dave wants to try it too. :D Okonomiyaki sauce is TASTY, BTW.

There was a dove on the patio for several hours today. Sly was DELIGHTED. I have never seen a cuter cat.

I have this huge red streak under my right eye. It kind of looks like I got hit with something. :(

  1. Today I bought 3.25yds of a grey linen/rayon fabric with a tiny rosebud print to make an ankle-length half-circle skirt to wear this summer. I have a similar skirt I love dearly, but it is wool and far far far too hot to wear anymore. I may have to go to Mom's so I have help doing the bottom hem.

  2. Still have bloody snot, so I am gonna talk to Mom tomorrow and see if she can swing taking me to the doctor (Dave's week is full of meetings).

  3. I am eating a cup of miso soup with egg noodles. It is tasty, but powdered miso is never as good as the real thing. I may go munch on an artichoke as well.

  4. The mail may have potentially lost a Netflix DVD. If so I will be realllly unhappy.

  5. Getting ready to apply a couple places again, I will either luck out or continue as I have been. (if I do get a job I start saving for either a scooter or to buy Mom's car off her thus getting her the down payment on a new car)

  6. Dave has to go to bed early and thus has to get up early but I am so not tired. Maybe I will stay up and watch something.

[EDIT] You have no idea how much I want one of these -> LED SHOWER LIGHT

I am gonna contain all my boyfriend sappiness to my icon, plz see it.

Okay, so diet continues apace though slightly more relaxed. Lost a couple more pounds and have hit 10 pounds total dropped, which is nice. Looks as though this will be immenantly doable, which is good. Can eat whole wheat pasta now, as well as the occasional soft drink for when I really need the caffine fix. (What? Green tea does not have enough and coffee is gross without a good helping of cream and sugar.)

Fish does not agree with me, sadly. I love salmon dearly and made a stupid tasty salmon filet, but it causes my innards to go BLARRRRRRGH! Alas.
